Job Description

Production Manager (Operations Manager)
Location: Leicestershire
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Benefits

Build something better, not just run what exists.

We are a growing, profitable UK manufacturer specialising in high-precision injection moulded components for the electronics sector. With in-house tooling, strong technical capability, and a reputation for quality, we are now entering the next phase of our growth.

To support this, we are restructuring our operations and are looking for a Production Manager who can bring structure, leadership, and forward-thinking capability to the shopfloor.

This is not a maintenance role. Its an opportunity to take ownership of operations, raise standards, and build a platform for growth

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead all production and operational delivery activities across the business.

You will be responsible for ensuring that we manufacture and deliver product on time, in full, to the right quality and costwhile building the systems, team capability, and operational discipline required for future growth.

You will lead:

  • Production (setters and operators)
  • Planning & scheduling
  • Purchasing
  • Warehouse & logistics
  • Maintenance

You will work closely with our Technical and Quality functions, which sit alongside operations, to ensure strong alignment between production, engineering, and quality standards.

  • Identify capacity constraints and contribute to capex planning
  • Build a more capable, accountable, and scalable operation

What Were Looking For

We are looking for someone who can raise the bar, not just fit in.

Essential:

  • Strong experience in injection moulding or plastics manufacturing
  • Proven track record of improving production performance (not just managing it)
  • Experience leading teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of planning, capacity, and operational flow
  • Data-driven, structured, and results-focused

Desirable:

  • Lean / continuous improvement experience
  • Exposure to automation or process improvement projects
  • Experience with planned maintenance systems
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to drive change

Personal Qualities

  • Builds strong teams and holds people accountable
  • Leads from the front but thinks ahead
  • Brings structure, not chaos
  • Challenges the status quo constructively
  • Comfortable operating in an SME where visibility and impact are high

  • Clear intent to grow and invest
  • Opportunity to shape how operations are run
  • Part of the senior management team (board member)
  • Direct access to decision-making and strategy
  • A role with genuine scope to make a difference
