  1. Job Purpose:

 

To manage all aspects & Maintenance & Facility’s leading inhouse cell manufacture, procedure and provide technical support to the business operation ensuring efficiencies are maintained in a timely manner and drive the technical development of the business.

To develop / analyse the business through the agreed business systems.

To identify & implement improvement projects through robust PDCA incorporating preventative maintenance.

To assist the Operations Manager in developing a cross-functional support team.

To drive the continuous improvement programme & MMTR, MTBF

To liaise with suppliers externally and internally as necessary

To manage the department to achieving key performance criteria.

 

  1. Dimensions:

 

Financial – To ensure that Maintenance& Facilities are adequately manned as per budget.

To To ensure equipment is capable of running at its optimum speed.

To keep downtime costs to a minimum by responding efficiently to production concerns.

To Monitor KPI, Machine availability, MMTR,MTBF

To ensure the team is fully trained.

To manage health & safety in order to prevent accidents and subsequent claims.

To control budgeted spend.

To provide a system of maintenance of machines, tooling and associated equipment;

To manage the department’s absenteeism, holidays, overtime, etc.

To keep project costs within the agreed budget.

To meet customer demands, internally and externally, on time and at the right quality.

  1. Principle Accountabilities:

 

 

To be responsible for and drive health, safety and environmental action plans within the department, agreed by the company to ensure a safe working environment for all employees by conducting, delegating and auditing risk assessments. Ensure the introduction of appropriate measures to address highlighted issues and respect all legal and policy requirements.

To ensure departmental procedures are aligned with the quality standards as determined by the customer and adhering to the company’s quality procedures and standards, thereby ensuring continued TS 16949 registration.

To develop a cross-functional teamwork approach involving all departmental disciplines.

To constantly monitor and analyse performance and implement continuous improvements.

To maximize efficiency of operations via good management, Monitor MMTR,MTBF a flexible manning approach to standardised work, practical problem solving, continuous improvement and plan, do, check & act methodology with built in quality.

To devise and maintain a continuous training and development plan.

To constantly improve and develop the process to ensure an efficient operation and delivering / improving the facility with all the necessary documentation so as to achieve full utilisation of the manufacturing resource focusing on consistent process that achieves the daily production targets.

To manage the development and maintenance of TPM including 1st line TPM.

To liaise with all Suppliers, externally and internally as required.

Preparation, monitoring and analysis of agreed KPI’s.

To ensure that adequate cover is maintained during any holiday periods.

To assist, the Operations Manager, in the construction of and achieving of, the operational budgets.

To challenge current convention.

Demonstrable experience in managing technical functions within the industry.

An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

TS16949 / ISO 14001 / ISO 18001 procedures

18th Edition Electrical Certified

PLC Programming & Fault finding (Siemens & Mitsubishi)

Robot programming and Integratron

Man management skills (inc. Disciplinary, Performance monitoring, Man Power planning and recruitment)

Up to date knowledge of controls and the Machinery Directive

Knowledge of automotive industry

Preventive Maintenance Planning (In-depth experience of PM planning and lean manufacturing)

Expertise of the manufacturing processes associated with Tube manufacture and subsequent processes.

Supplier liaison experience

Excellent analytical & Practical problem solving skills.

Financial awareness.

Previous experience of developing efficient maintenance and engineering systems.

Comprehensive IT skills.

Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.

The ability to demonstrate and challenge convention and lateral thinking in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

 

 

  1. Supervision:

 

Responsible for the Maintenance & Facilities NPI machine process introduction – Assignment of their work, review of their performance and co-ordination of all departments in order to achieve the above.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Assignment and Review of Work:

 

Receives work via production notification system, budget assumptions, TPM requirements, production equipment / process issues, via customer contact, through continuous improvement and Company Directors.
